GASTRONOMICA TRAINING PROGRAMME

GASTRONOMICA has an important community development function. It is involving as many members of the community as possible in all aspects of the event. Tourism is a major source of income for the town, but training facilities do not exist locally to provide opportunities for people to participate in a meaningful way. By instituting extensive mentoring programmes as part of the event, we will be able to equip them for a career in this industry.

The committee has set out to train 200 people - unemployed as well as already employed. Trainees are taught how to add value by showing a positive attitude, being helpful and caring for visitors to Knysna through increased awareness and skills.

HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY
A selected group of hospitality staff are being trained in all fields. They can thereafter be employed permanently; temporarily or be hired for functions or events of all magnitudes. The trainees have already worked at the Vodacom Golf Cup & Knysna Tourism AGM.
