Like a villain in a story…breast cancer catches you when you least expect it!

In 2001, at the age of 30, Penelope was diagnosed with 2nd stage breast cancer. She had surgery, chemotherapy and radiation.

In 2005, Penelope's mom-in-law was diagnosed with an aggressive HER2 positive breast cancer. She had surgery, chemotherapy, Herceptin and Tamoxifen.

In 2009, Penelope's mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had surgery and radiation.

Penelope has extensive experience in being both a cancer patient and a concerned family member dealing with breast cancer.

Penelope has done breast cancer motivational talks for the last 7 years - to both large (1200 people) and small (10 people) audiences.

Penelope has helped many people through their diagnosis and treatment.

Penelope’s philosophy is to live life like a fairytale – taking into account that there will always be villains in the story.

“My life story has all the traditional fixings of a true fairytale – “once upon a time” a variety of colourful characters, a handful of villains, a castle, a chariot, a Prince Charming, endearing animals, interesting plots, special places, theme songs, love and laughter…and it is my responsibility to ensure that every day has a happily ever after!”

“Facing adversity teaches us to reach deep into our souls and find enough courage, tenacity and enthusiasm to turn a challenging situation into a magical life adventure that takes internal inspiration and turns it into external passion! Go back to the basics and think like a child – throw away all hang-ups and inhibitions and focus on all that nature, friends and family have to offer. It is amazing – the simpler life becomes, the easier it becomes to manage and enjoy!”

Motivational Talk by Penelope Howie

The Breast Cancer Motivational presentation is based on Penelope's own cancer adventure and the experiences of breast cancer survivors that have touched her life over the years.

"I still believe in fairytales and happily ever after" is unique as it uses the traditional fairytale layout to provide motivation, education and tools to assist women in understanding, preventing, coping with and overcoming breast cancer.

Penelope believes that even though our life fairytale isn't always perfect and villains appear in various chapters along our story - if you face the challenge and make yourself the hero in your own story – “happily ever after” is definitely possible.

Penelope's talk is memorable as it offers listeners an easy-to-follow, practical and entertaining take on how to turn negatives into positives and to clear life hurdles with ease.
