Nidhi Chaitow and Richelle Kohn have been running the Drum Cafe Knysna since 1998 and have facilitated interactive drumming workshops across diverse groups on the Garden Route ranging from corporate functions & events, educational & schools groups, team building, facilitation, community celebrations, drumming lessons and various social occasions.
We offer drumming lessons in Knysna on a Thursday evenings at The Dance Studio, 15 Trotter Street. From our group of drummers, we put together a performance event for the Ladies Night for the Knysna Oyster Festival this year where we performed 2 interactive drumming pieces and did an audience facilitation using clapping and stamping getting the whole audience involved and having an immense amount of fun.
Our performance product consists of 5 djembe drummers, a base drummer a lead drummer and facilitator and percussion and the most amazing thing is that we are all women. This adds a different perspective and flair to drumming which is often seen as male orientated . Our performance is slick and very professionally run and lasts for approx. 20 minutes and was highly recommended and received at the Ladies Night.
