ASTRONOMICA - An evening with the Stars

On Friday 25th September at 19h00 in the Thesen Island Clubhouse, you will be able to spend an enchanting evening with the stars!!
Wilderness scientist, Mr Case Rijsdijk, will be presenting a fascinating astronomy talk entitled

" The Life and Death of Stars"
A fully illustrated talk with video clips and animations that explains how stars, like people, are born, live and die.

Following the talk, Mr Rijsdijk will take you outside and point out some exciting stars and constellations.


Wilderness scientist Case Rijsdijk has been recognised for his outstanding contribution to communicating science, engineering, technology and innovation to generations of young learners. Rijsdijk received a special award last week from the National Science and Technology Forum. The award came with the citation that “his enthusiasm to share his passion for physics and astronomy has made him one of the leading communicators and educators of his generation”. Rijsdijk, who received the award from Science and Technology Minister Naledi Pandor, said he was surprised and elated to receive special recognition for his work.

The cost is R100 per adult and R30 per child

Bring along a picnic basket with your food and drinks and enjoy an evening out amongst our galaxy's finest! Tables and chairs are available!

Guests are walked to the hill next to the putting green and will be shown the various starts and constellations as discussed by Mr Rijsdijk
